This has an inner meaning (Batin), which is: if there are two disciples of one person, and one of them attains union (attasala), hears [the secret knowledge], and is saved, while the other has a connection (ta’liqah) to the Master (al-Sayyid) but has died [spiritually or physically]—it is not permissible for the disciple who attained union to let him hear [the knowledge]. This is because he [the deceased disciple] had a "marriage" from his Master who passed away (al-mundarij), and the disciple who attained union is in the position of the Master's wife. This is a profound secret; so understand it and do not neglect it. These are the prohibitions that are not lawful: “{And those are the limits [set by] Allah. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah has certainly wronged himself.}” (Al-Talaq 1).
What is the sign in the first and second metamorphosis, and what is the difference between them?
I say: All of that is among the prohibitions, both outwardly (Zahiran) and inwardly (Batinan).
Know—may Allah teach you goodness and inspire you to act upon it—that the Creator (Al-Bari), the Almighty, has not forbidden anything to us except that which is harmful, whether outwardly (Zahiran) or inwardly (Batinan). Therefore, sharpen your intellect upon these meanings and do not neglect them.
