Furthermore, the prohibition of carrion, blood, and pork has inward meanings, but acting upon the inward alone emboldens one to permit the eating of what is outwardly forbidden. Similarly, adultery, murder, and theft have inward meanings, but if we neglect their outward [prohibition], then chaos occurs; and thus the opponent searches for that which would silence you and shames you for violating God's sanctities among the people!
To him we say: O you! When did you find us retreating from the religion, or intimidated by threats, or falling short in response—such that you say about us what we do not say and what we do not believe at all? Furthermore, you threaten us with the "excommunication" [Takfir] of the people based on the corrupt sayings and deviant opinions they attribute to us. We reject this with an argument supported by both Revealed Evidence [al-Manqul] and Reasoning [al-Ma'qul].
The prohibition of the prohibitions by the transmitted and the rational
As for the Revealed Evidence: All the People of Monotheism forbid the Outward of the forbidden and its Inward. You will never find a witness that permits them. Indeed, He (the Exalted) said:
{Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities—what is manifest of them and what is concealed—and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know."} (Al-A'raf 33).
