Jihad according to the view of Al-Jannan in the Illumination of the Lamp

The Master, the Most Excellent, Al-Janan al-Junbulani (may Allah sanctify his person), has excelled and bestowed upon us what he provided in the book Idah al-Misbah [Clarification of the Lamp] regarding the knowledge of the meaning of Jihad, saying:

"Jihad is an obligation according to the saying of the Exalted: {Not equal are those of the believers who sit [at home]—other than those who have a disability—and those who strive in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred those who strive with their wealth and their lives over those who sit by a degree. And to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred those who strive over those who sit with a great reward—degrees [of high position] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful} (An-Nisa 95-96).

Among the conditions of Jihad is that it must be with a Just Imam [Imam 'Adil]. This is the saying of the Messenger (PBUH): 'Welcome to a people who have completed the Lesser Jihad and still owe the Greater Jihad.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the Greater Jihad?' He said: 'It is the Jihad of the Soul.'"

Regarding Jihad, there is also another aspect in His saying: {Those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong} (Al-Hajj 41).
