The Sacred Mosque [al-Masjid al-Haram] is Abd al-Muttalib. The Black Stone is Aqil bin Abi Talib—and in the outward matter, it is the head of Abel [Habil] son of Adam. Maqam Ibrahim: and Ibrahim in this station is the Gate. [Others say] it is al-Miqdad, who is the Great Orphan. Zamzam is Amina bint Wahb.

Safa is Umm Salama and Marwa is Rayhana. The Sa'y [walking] between them is Jabir bin Abd Allah al-Ansari. Mina is Hashim bin Abd Manaf, who is the one who commanded the people during the Age of Ignorance [Jahiliyya] that no one should be oppressed while with him, and he gathered them upon the Word.

The Three Jamarat: they are the stations of Shanbuwiya [Zafar], Nathal, and al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba.

The Twenty-One Pebbles which the believers throw at the Jamarat: they are twenty-one persons from the Ranks of the Gate [Mantiq al-Bab] who act as a cloak [Rida'] between the believers and Shanbuwiya, protecting them from what might reach them from him.

Al-Mash'ar1 al-Haram: Abu Dharr. Arafah: Khadija bint Khuwaylid.
