I said: What is the meaning of Mina? He said: The manifestation of Allah in His Essence [Dhat]; so they acknowledged His Pre-eternity, declared His Unity, and knew Him—thus it was named Mina.

I said: And Arafat? He said: They found Him and thus they knew Him [Arafuhu]; so it was named Arafat.

I said: And the Standing on the Mountain? He said: The people stood in their supplication toward the one through whom Allah intended people to worship Him.

I said: Why was Muzdalifa named Muzdalifa? He said: Because the Person of the Creator [Shakhs al-Bari] spoke there; so the people drew near [izdalafa] to Him when they saw the wonders of His wisdom, each desiring a swift response.

I said: And the Eid? He said: It is a Gate from the gates of Disclosure [Kashf].

I said: And the Sermon [Khutba]? He said: His call to His companions, by which we obligated our souls to acknowledge servitude to Him.

I said: And the Nafar [Departure]? He said: The Creator calling the servants by Himself, to Himself, and His addressing of them.

I said: What is the meaning of the Prayer before the Sermon while standing at Arafat? He said: Allah manifested among them at Mina, and He manifested the person of the Veil [Muhammad] at Arafat.
