The most famous of knowledge is the knowledge of the Persons of the Months through verification, for they are months in which it is mandatory to strive toward the Hajj, the Nafir [the call to march], and the Prohibition of what they made prohibited of the Sacred Months.

These are the names of the persons of the months of the year:

Month of Ramadan: Abd Allah bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Shawwal: Al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Dhu al-Qi'dah: Al-Zubayr bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Dhu al-Hijjah: Hamza bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Al-Muharram: Abu Talib bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Safar: Al-Muqawwim bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Rabi' al-Awwal & Rabi' al-Thani: Al-Hajl and Al-Ghaydaq (sons of Abd al-Muttalib).

Jumada al-Ula: Abd al-Ka'bah bin Abd al-Muttalib.

Jumada al-Akhira: Ibrahim bin Muhammad.

Rajab: Al-Tahir bin Muhammad.

Sha'ban: Al-Qasim bin Muhammad.
