In the book (Realities of the Secrets of Religion) by Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Shu’ba al-Harrani—may Allah sanctify him—he said: In the Quran, there are allusive verses regarding persons praised and censured. Among them is what Allah recounted with praise and then made it an example for the people of censure; it carries both praise and censure. Its intended meaning in origin is praised, then Allah branched it into censure. And among them is what Allah recounted with censure and then made it an example for the people of praise; it carries both praise and censure. Its intended meaning in origin is censured, then Allah branched it toward praise.
Following this example is what appeared in the Quran: that the angels are praised in origin, though the disbelievers may [also] bear this name. The praised [one] is more praiseworthy (Ahmad) in this name because the praised is consistent in origin and branch; their origin is from one thing, their branch is from one thing, and their forms in transformation (taqlib) are one. As for the censured ones, their forms are different in transformation and they are different in the branch, even if they were one in origin.
The angels who knew the Kingdom (Malakut) are the angels of Allah. Likewise, everyone who stood within the science of the accursed Satan, upholding it, has possessed the science of Satan—the indication of this has already been mentioned.
