Know that all the People of Monotheism [Ahl al-Tawhid] have been guided to this Straight Path which their Master clarified for them in His Mighty Book by naming the Luminous Persons with these worldly names. This method has also been favored by the masters of the marvelous sciences [rhetoric/poetry] in their poems; they call their beloved by the name of the Gazelle, the Branch, and other such metaphorical names.

Similarly, the masters of the Alchemical sciences have named metals such as gold, silver, iron, copper, lead, tin, and mercury after the names of the Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury. All of this is a symbol from them, for their true intent is other than the outward appearance of their words.
