The fasting of Ramadan is the silence of Abd Allah therein. Allah has clarified this in His Book by His saying: {So say, "Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful a fast, so I will not speak today to any human"} (Maryam 26).

And in the story of Zechariah [Zakariyya], the saying of the Exalted: {He said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound." So he came out to his people from the sanctuary and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] morning and afternoon} (Maryam 10-11).

Thus, the revelation [Wahy] was through his hand, his eye, and his eyebrows—not through his tongue or speech. The prohibition [Tahrim] that Abd Allah manifested therein—regarding food, drink, lying, and speaking what is not the Truth, along with all that Allah forbade—was all in anticipation of the appearance of the Greatest Master Muhammad, who is the Quran mentioned by Allah in His saying: The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed as guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and the criterion} (Al-Baqarah 185). The Month is Abd Allah, and the Quran is Muhammad.

There is a second explanation for this: {Ya-Sin. By the wise Quran} (Ya-Sin 1-2).
