and the persons of the thirty nights in the fifth chapter of the book Al-Ma'arif, saying:

Our Master the Messenger (peace be from him) said: The believer is fasting forever.

And Allah (Exalted is His praise) said: {Decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous... [for] a limited number of days} (Al-Baqarah 183-184).

And the Exalted said in the story of Maryam: {So say, "Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful a fast, so I will not speak today to any human"} (Maryam 26).

And He (Exalted is His name) said: {Then complete the fast until the night} (Al-Baqarah 187).

The Inward [Batin] of the Fast which Allah commanded is Taqiyya and Silence from declaring the Science of Truth [Ilm al-Haqq].

And what is the meaning of the Messenger's saying (peace be from him): The believer is fasting forever?

Its meaning is: He is concealing what he is upon.
