The Prince Hasan bin Makzun al-Sinjari (may Allah sanctify his soul) pointed to the meaning of Fasting in his sermon for the Eid al-Fitr prayer, saying: "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Throne of His Equality, the station of His transcendence, the worship of His Meaning, and the path of those He chose. He made the knowledge of him the root of His mandates, and obedience to him the repetition of His pleasures. He used Fasting as a parable for his silence and fear, and pointed with the Eid to the festivals of declaring his call. He made him speak on this day, proclaiming His command and calling to His public and private aspects. The believers hastened to answer him, while the disbelievers denied his call. So He made it a witnessed day for his occultation, and returned it every year as a praised Eid for His allies, making them know him through manifestation and proximity. He placed between them and the disbelievers a lamp of light that has a Gate [Bab]: its interior [Batin] contains mercy, and its exterior [Zahir] from its side is punishment."

The esteemed Sayyid Abu Sa'id Maymun ibn al-Qasim al-Tabarani (may Allah grace us through him) has excelled, spoken eloquently, and blessed us with what he provided in explaining the knowledge of His (the Exalted) intent regarding the Mandated Fast in His Mighty Book, and the knowledge of the Person of the Month, the persons of the thirty days
