We made them for mankind like garments
I have cited more of the statements regarding the obligation of performing the outward—which is Taqiyya—among the opposites so that the seeker and others may know that His (the Exalted) intent in mandating fasting upon the believers is the concealment of the secret from the opposites and the performance of the outward limits among the deniers, as the Imams of Guidance (peace be upon them) and those who walked their path commanded us. This is for covering [Tastir], not for practicing religion or believing in them. Al-Sayyid al-Makzun pointed to this meaning in one of his poems, saying:
I practiced religion as the Da'is practiced for her beauty, By stripping off Piety [Tuqa] and wearing Taqiyya.
The meaning of Piety [Tuqa] here is the removal of fear for the sake of her love, because Tuqa is fear, while Taqiyya is concealment and covering by manifesting the performance of outward worship among the denying opposites.
