The meaning of His saying (the Exalted): {And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct to you from the black thread of dawn, then complete the fast until the night} (Al-Baqarah 187) because Divine Science is the food and drink of pure souls.

Esoteric explanation of the verse: It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives

Esoteric explanation of the verse: And whoever among you is ill or on a journey

Regarding His saying (the Exalted): {It has been made permissible for you the night of fasting to have intimacy with your women} (Al-Baqarah 187):

This is an allusion to the leeway in the Science of Monotheism granted to seekers of the Science of Truth through movement in the Science of Births. This is what Allah permitted the believers in Truth to let you hear of the word of Truth, so they may reflect and return to it after their departure from it and their forgetting of it.

The meaning of His saying (the Exalted): {So whoever among you is ill or on a journey} (Al-Baqarah 184) refers to the seeker of the Sciences of Truth. Their fasting during "other days" means their adherence to the outward days rather than the inward, and the outward fasting instead of the inward, until the traveler reaches their destination.
