Likewise, in the Book of Ranks and Degrees, it says: Judge the interpretation of the verse by its context; if it is praise, then judge it with praise, and if the context is censure, judge it with censure, such as His saying: {Enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you} (Al-Ma'idah 21). This land is praised, and it is the Vast Kingdom (al-Malakut al-Fasih).

And the saying of the Exalted: {So We caused the earth to swallow him and his home} (Al-Qasas 81).

This is a censured earth because He mentioned it with swallowing, which is the swallowing of the disbeliever's status from the high degree in humanity to the wretchedness of metamorphic compositions.

And the saying of the Exalted: {And We sent down from the sky pure water} (Al-Furqan 48).

This is praised water, and it is the science of Oneness which comes out from the Gate to the people of the ranks.

And the saying of the Exalted: {Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the sailing ship} (Al-Haqqah 11).
