The Creator (Exalted is He) does not want us to believe in their outward forms; rather, we maintain them for mandatory necessity only. The proof for this is the lack of use by the celestial light-worlds of them or of any worldly life necessities.

Know, O seeker, that if it were permissible for us to practice religion and believe in the outward Zakat, it would then be permissible for us to believe in gold, silver, and all outward worldly goods—such as food, drink, marriage, and utensils used by believers in the name of Zakat due to need and necessity. The same applies to all outward forms of worship and all worldly names. Therefore, the people of Monotheism were commanded not to perform outward worship in the private gatherings of believers due to the lack of need for it in private. Then they were commanded to perform it among the Opposites due to our need for concealment and Taqiyya.

If someone says: "Is the performance of the Inward also for need and necessity?"

We say to him: Yes, the need to perform the Inward is constant, in order to increase the Ascension in both inward science and action. Its performance is a mandate upon every believer except among the Opposites, where it is not permissible.
