Second, in Travel; if you find him open-handed and spending what is in his hand, [well and good], otherwise be gentle and assist him [Muwasa]. Third, test him in the Dirham and Dinar; if he chooses them over you, then be gentle and assist him [Muwasa]. But if you find one who bears these three traits, then tighten your hand upon him, for your salvation from Allah is only through him.

I say: Our Sheikh—may Allah sanctify his person—mentioned to us in the Ma'iyya poem mentioned previously the Zakat mandated upon us in His Book (Exalted is He). He also mentioned to us at its very beginning the Water mandated for our ritual washing [Ghusl] before the mandated Prayer. Both—Zakat and Water—are the Noblest Gate [Salman], so that he might alert us—may Allah brighten his face—to two mandated meanings, neither of which stands except through the other: the mandate of the "Babic" [Gate-related] Science, and the mandate of bestowing it upon those deserving of it.

The latter are symbolized by the Water mandated for washing the physical limbs, and by the Zakat mandated for bestowal upon its people in the Book of Allah. This is because the Water mandated for washing is the "Babic Science" mentioned at the beginning of the explanation of these five limits and at the start of this Ma'iyya poem.
