It was narrated that Zakat in the First Inward [al-Bāṭin al-Awwal] is the knowledge of the Imams; in the Second Inward, the knowledge of the Gates [al-Abwāb]; and in the Third Inward, the right of the brothers in equality [al-mu'āsāt].
Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Tamimi narrated from Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Warraq, from al-Khasib, from Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Bursi, from Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Armini, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Yunus ibn Zhabyan, from al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, who said: I asked al-Sadiq, saying to him: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, why did He make the zakat of two hundred dirhams five dirhams?" He replied: "Allah created two hundred lights and commanded them to hear and obey the Five Lights. He said: 'I have established them from My light.' They are the Five whom Allah mandated upon everything: the knowledge of Muhammad, Fāṭir, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and al-Muhsin."
