It is mandatory for the Perfect Believer to teach whoever is below him. The Person of Zakat is al-Miqdād, as in His saying: {He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself [tazakkā]} (Al-A'lā 14).
Whoever recognizes al-Miqdād and professes obedience to him [has succeeded]. The outward of the spoils found among the believers is the sciences.
Esoteric explanation of the verse: If He should ask it of you and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose
And His saying: {And He does not ask you for your wealth} (Muhammad 36).
Meaning: [He does not ask] your knowledge, such that you reveal it to the tyrants [al-Jabbārīn]; He does not reward you for that. He (Glory be to Him) said: {If He should ask them of you and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your rancor} (Muhammad 37). Do you fear for yourselves to reveal that which would contain your destruction?
And your killing [destruction] when the matter of confusion intensifies for you. You said: "Once He tells us not to reveal your doctrine to those near you, and another time He says, 'reveal it to your enemy'." This is the rancor [al-dighn] that He mentioned. So, Allah purified the believers—because of the reason of His love for them—from that which they have no capacity for. And Allah knows His creation best.
