That is because they believe in the verses pointing to the Unseen [Ghayb]—like the People of the Outward—while rejecting the verses pointing to the Manifestation [Zuhur], just as the People of the Outward reject them. This interpretation does not agree with the Rational [Ma'qul] nor the Transmitted [Manqul], because it is contrary to the Foundations [Usul].
Know, O seeker, that the statements regarding the Five Acts of Worship follow this same course. For among them is that which points to the obligation of establishing them [outwardly], and among them is that which points to the obligation of rejecting them, and among them is that which points to their veneration, and among them is that which points to their censure, and among them is that which points to their preference. Just as His words (the Exalted) regarding the praised, censured, and neglected Sun and Moon and others: some point to their praise, and some point to their censure, or to their veneration and preference or neglect. Following this same course are the words of the Exalted using the name of the praised, censured, and neglected Wine; and the name of the praised, censured, and neglected Water. This same course applies to what appears in the Quran regarding the names of the Prophets in terms of praise and censure, eating and drinking, error and falling [descent], disobedience and response, and denial and the like.
