is the Religion, and the Religion is the Commander of the Faithful [Ali], according to his saying in Sermon of Lights: I am the actual religion. He said in another sermon: I am the reality of religions. Then he said in a sermon: I am the Frequented House [Al-Bayt al-Ma'mur].
Allah the Exalted said: {So wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah} (Al-Baqarah 115).
If He had commanded prayer toward the East or any of the directions, it would indicate His existence (the Exalted), because no place is empty of Him. Likewise, the arrangement of prayer—even if Allah (the Exalted) made it according to any form of existence that points to the Spiritual Existence—it would be permissible for us to perform it, because He guides us through it to Allah, just as He guides us through other things to Allah. Just as it is mandatory upon us to respond to Him in all manifestations according to our capacity, it is also mandatory upon us to seek evidence for Him in all parables according to our capacity.
Likewise, the number of rak'as [bows] of these prayers point to the number of the letters of the names of the Five Nominal Persons.
