Contracts and the knot - exiting the state of Ihram.

As for the contracts, exiting from Ihram, and lifting the shackles and burdens from the believers—it is the knowledge of the inward realities [Bawatin]. There is nothing outward except that it has an inward; we use its outward to guide us to its inward. Do you not see the walnut, the almond, the pistachio, the hazelnut, and other fruits? Can you perceive their inward without striving on your part? For you will not attain their inward until you process their outward to see the sweetness of their inward. Likewise, the Science of Monotheism [Tawhid], in which is salvation, appeared until it was almost that no one was ignorant of it, and it was hidden until it was almost that no one knew it.

Our Master al-Sadiq—peace be from him—said: "Whoever claims that he knows Allah by the outward [Zahir] has been ignorant of more than he has known; whoever claims that he knows Allah by the inward [Batin] has disbelieved; and whoever persists in the practice of the outward and the inward together has not regretted."

The Answer: As long as the believer does not know the inward realities of the laws and the meaning behind their verbal differences, and does not know the interpretation [Ta'wil] of permissibility, he is a commanded slave in the grip of captivity and ownership.
