The change, substitution, prohibition, permission, command, prohibition, trial, affliction, and incapacity—these are causes residing in the creation, the mixing, the testing, and the turbidity [Kadar] within them, not in the Prophets and Messengers. It is merely a trial for the people of mixing, turbidity, and dregs; thus they see change, substitution, cause, and alteration. The inward realities of what is commanded are nothing but the Science of Monotheism [Tawhid] and nothing else. The People of Purity [Safa] and the Messengers have no disagreement among them, even if they differ in stations, manifestations, and speaking in various languages—for that is [perceived only] by the people of mixing and turbidity.

We have found that Ya'il ibn Fatin tested the creation with the lute and musical amusements, yet they speak of Monotheism and nothing else. For the People of Faith hear all musical instruments saying: "There is no god but Seth [Shayth] and his Veil is Idris."

He bestowed favor and excellence—may Allah sanctify him—with this meaning in another question regarding His saying (the Exalted): {O you who have believed, when you rise to prayer, wash your faces and your hands to the elbows and wipe over your heads and your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of ceremonial impurity, then purify yourselves} (Al-Ma'idah 6).
