shackles, the burdens, and the heat of diseases. He said: "I have lightened that for them, and I have made the rights of their brothers mandatory upon them. They must support them if they do not treat them as equals; they must feed their hungry, clothe their naked, maintain ties with their poor, help their oppressed, and assist their weak. This is among what has been made mandatory upon them of the rights of their brothers.

So you must be compassionate and kind toward them. Let each of you be as the Scholar—peace be upon him—said: "Whomever asks us, we give; and whomever does not ask us, we initiate [the giving]." For if one has no outward form to establish, nor support [Muwasa] for his brothers, then to what does he cling, and upon what does he rely? Whoever does not establish the outward among its people and maintain ties with his brothers is not a believer. Thus, you must rely on both states together: establishing the outward among its people and maintaining ties with your brothers. Strive to avoid your enemies in religion—the dissenters—and beware of mixing with any of them. Isolate yourself from them as much as you can; do not advise any of them, nor eat or drink with them, for that is prohibited to you.
