He who polished our hearts with knowledge and gnosis, the Master and Saint, son of the Saint, Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jalli, has bestowed favor and excellence upon us by emphasizing this in what he cited in his treatise (The Inward of Prayer), specifically in the chapter on the knowledge of why the Prayer was named Prayer and who is the Worshiper [Musalli]. He says: The Worshiper is the Gnostic believer in Allah the Pre-eternal, his Master [Mawla]. The Prayer [Salat] is the person of the Mim [Muhammad]. His witness from the Book of Allah (Exalted and Majestic) is that he is a person whose obedience is made obligatory upon the servants who are Gnostics of him.
His [Muhammad's] saying on behalf of the Meaning (Exalted is His Might) points to His Veil [Muhammad] and informs the creation of his [the Veil's] station—peace be upon him: {Indeed, the prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater} (Al-Ankabut 45). This is an indication of the knowledge of the Mim as His Veil. It teaches us that knowing Him (the Exalted) through Luminousness [Nouraniyya] is greater than the knowledge of the Prayer, which is through the person of the Mim.
Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing
The meaning of His saying: {Indeed, the prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing}—these two are the persons of the First and the Second, may Allah curse them.
