intended by these outward acts of worship except the inward luminous persons and the inward divine gnoses, then why should we burden ourselves with believing and professing their outward forms and performing them in our private retreats while knowing they are negated—just as our fallen Adam was burdened with eating from the tree while knowing that the Creator (the Exalted) had forbidden him from eating from it, and because of that, he necessitated the fall?!
And He (the Exalted) did not intend by His commands to establish these outward prayers and other manifest obligatory acts of worship except to indicate that we have no leeway in falling short of the knowledge of those persons and preserving their secrets and professing the religion of Allah through their religion, and worshiping Allah in their worship, and saying what they said. He [the Exalted] did not name the Luminous Persons with the names of the forms of these outward acts of worship and others, nor did He make His discourse in His Mighty Book [the Quran] through their outward forms except for secret meanings that it is not permissible to disclose to other than their [worthy] people, so that we may use their outward forms to point to their inward meanings, and also to establish their outward forms as a veil over their inward realities.
