As for the inward of the Prayer of Fear [Salat al-Khawf] in the outward: the prayer, upon the entry of every obligatory time, gestures toward the direction of the Sacred House with prostration without loud recitation. That is if he fears for himself from the prevalence of the enemy or meets the conditions Zakat and prayer, including bowing and prostration, and that is during war or in a fearful journey. The inward meaning of that is the Gnostic’s veiling of his true prayer from those ignorant of Allah and hiding its rulings from them, and that is among the realities of the persons of the units of prayer in bowing and prostration within it. For the believer is the one who is fearful in the world of sensation, the traveler to the world of holiness, and the warrior against the devil of the carnal soul. Therefore, it is mandatory for him to hide what he is within, veiling the secret of Monotheism out of fear for himself from the people of ignorance regarding it. Toward this, the manifest indication was placed as a warning against allowing the participation of the opponents in it, because the People of Monotheism are a single soul; even if they were a thousand, they would be one due to their union in the knowledge of Allah the Exalted.
As for the Prayer for Rain (Salat al-Istisqa'), it is recommended in the outward during the drought of the land and the cessation of rain from it.
