Likewise, they only related to us those narrations indicating their performance as a warning to us, so that we strive to know their inward persons and believe in them, and so that we do not neglect their performance among the "Opposites" (Al-Addad), nor the knowledge of how their parables are struck to indicate the knowledge of their inward persons.
If it were not as we have mentioned, one would inevitably have to deem one of the two contradictory statements as a lie. Whoever deems one of them a lie would have deemed the authors of these statements as liars, and consequently, would have deemed the Khasibi religion and the Shu’aybi school as a lie, and would have deemed the Infallibles as liars, and the Lord of the Worlds as a liar. This means disbelief in Allah, His books, His messengers, and all the worlds of light—may Allah protect us and all the believers from that.
If someone should say: Why did Allah the Exalted not address us in His Mighty Book except by the names of these outward forms?
