The right is for the face, and the left is for the rest of the body. Al-Miqdad was specifically assigned the right hand due to his loftiness and precedence, and because of the Master's saying regarding him: "There has come out to you from our knowledge an Alif that is not bent; and if it were bent, you would have bent." This means: al-Miqdad did not doubt, and if he had doubted, you would have doubted.
A likeness to that is his delay from prostration alongside the Letters (Al-Huruf), and his Master the "Ain" (Ali)—Mighty is His praise—saying: "Why did you not prostrate?" He replied: "I awaited your command.
So he won it, and he was the last of them, so he became the first of them and advanced. He is the Companion of the Right; the "Sin" [Salman] bestowed all of that upon him by the command of the "Mim" [Muhammad].
The meaning of "Right" is that whoever knows Allah through al-Miqdad with true knowledge, Allah protects him from metamorphosis (al-masukhiyya). The witness for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
{And if he is among the companions of the right} (Al-Waqi'a 90).
The meaning of the left hand is that it is a proof of Abu Dharr, because through him blessings were facilitated.
