And the subduer of the eyelids shows you fire In the waters of the seas, increasing in flare.

Some of the Monotheists said regarding this meaning in verse:

Magic is invalidated in the intellects when

The miracles arrive at the time of perfection

The location of magic in the vision is correct

And it is in the intellect fleeting like the impossible. So if the vision matches the radiance of the heart

Then a truth stands firm in every state.

How wonderful were the magicians in the time of Moses,

When their magic failed in the heights.

What they displayed was a plot against those who

Do not distinguish the truth in all discourse.

They displayed their matter so that what has come Of the matter of the One of Exaltation and Majesty may be revealed.

And likewise is the discourse regarding the transformation of Moses' hand by drawing it to his bosom and bringing it out white without harm, and the transformation of the waters of the Children of Israel into blood and back into water as they were; measure all other transformations and similitudes against this.
