transformation of things to the observers while the things remain as they are, then the Powerful One is more capable of flipping the hearts and sights by His power and showing His Essence to the observers as He wills and desires. For the Exalted informed us about the magicians of Pharaoh in His Mighty Book and their transformation of things through their magic, saying: {Then their ropes and their staffs, it seemed to him from their magic that they were moving} (Taha 66).
And He informed us of His power (the Exalted) regarding the transformation of the staff into a serpent and its swallowing of the sorcery of the magicians by His saying: {And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted} (Taha 69), and His saying: {And suddenly it was a serpent, moving quickly} (Taha 20). This is so we may know with certainty that He (the Exalted) is capable of transforming things by His power more than the magicians with their magic. He returned the staff and what they had bewitched to its original state so we may know with certainty that the transformation of the staff and all that they displayed of magic was only a similitude (Tashbih) and an imagination (Takhyil) in the eyes. This indicates that He (Glory be to Him) shows, by His power, the imaging to the observers through human and luminous attributes, while He is far above that, just as the magician shows through his magic the transformation of a thing from its state, while the thing has not departed from its original state. Master Al-Makzun (may Allah sanctify him) pointed to this meaning in his poetry:
