He is counted as non-existence ('Adam), which is "the nothing." He is also counted as dead, according to the poem of our Master Al-Muntajab (may Allah sanctify him):

You see him in the form of the living

Alive—yet he is dead, though unburied.

This is confirmed and supported by what was recorded in the Gospel of Matthew regarding Master Jesus, where he says: Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

Similarly, Master Jesus (peace be upon him) informed us in the twenty-second chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, saying: "God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

Similar to this is the saying of the Exalted in Surah An-Nahl: {And those they call upon besides Allah create nothing, and they are [themselves] created. They are dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected} (An-Nahl 20-21). And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: {To warn whoever is alive and that the word may be justified against the disbelievers} (Ya-Sin 70).
