The exposition of the indications pointing to what is meant by the exoteric aspect of this water, Prayer Dry Ablution (Tayamum).

O seeker, I shall clarify the indications regarding the manifest nature of this water. Our Sheikh—may Allah sanctify his person—mentioned water because it is one of the necessities of prayer, which is not validly established except by it. Similarly, knowledge (Ilm) is not valid except through action (Amal), for inward knowledge and action are two harmonious brothers; neither can stand without the other.

Among the conditions of the obligatory prayer are: washing the face and the hands to the elbows, and wiping the head and the feet to the ankles with water, as the Exalted indicated in Surah al-Ma'idah: {O you who have believed, when you rise to prayer, wash your faces and your hands to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janaba, then purify yourselves.
