He means—may Allah sanctify his soul—that the inward of the Water is the Gate, and it is the outward of Master Al-Mim (Muhammad)—peace be upon him. For to Master Al-Mim belongs the submission from two essential lights: one ancient and one produced. The ancient essential light is his inward reality, originated from the light of the essence of his Meaning (Al-Ma'na); by this he was named "Allah" when addressed in intimate prayer (Munajat). The produced light is the outward form, which is the body through which he appeared to the world. This is the outward of the Name, which is the inward of the Gate intended by the saying: "The inward of water is a person." He is a light created from the light of Allah; he is the Mountain, and from him comes the soul of the Sin (Salman). Regarding the saying: "He is the Messenger Guide":
Meaning that he is the sender of messengers and the legislator of laws.
"Everything receives from him
a life that does not change."
Meaning: That is, whoever knows this Messenger and knows the reality of his inward and outward as previously mentioned, has lived the eternal life with which no death follows, as it follows the ignorant who are the dead.
