Thus, the emergence of the disbeliever from the believer and the believer from the disbeliever by the law of transfers (intiqalat) and procreation (tawallud).

Sweet water (Furat). The salty and the sweet water... Explanation of the verses of Al-Khasibi

The disbeliever emerges from the believer through birth (ta'lid). The believer is alive through the gnosis of Allah, yet he may father a defiant disbeliever, who is the "dead." The disbeliever is dead forever, whereas the believer is alive forever and does not die; rather, he remains through the gnosis of Allah eternally. This is the indication meant by Master Abu Abdallah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi (may Allah honor his station) regarding the aforementioned water, in his saying:

Water is a majestic Person

From whom life is prolonged.

He did not mean the water we drink, for a human may drink a mouthful of water and choke or gag on it, and perhaps die. He may swim in the Tigris or the Euphrates, or board a boat or ship on the Nile or the sea, only to die by drowning in the salty water.
