The substance from the Gate is eternally connected to them, and through them, it reaches the believers whose life is sustained by knowledge. For Allah—the Exalted—mentioned that knowledge is life, as He (Exalted is His Praise) said: {Is he who was dead and We gave him life and made for him a light by which he walks among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom?} (Al-An'am 122).
This means that whoever was dead through ignorance, Allah brought them to life through the knowledge cast upon them regarding the Oneness of Allah and His Gnosis. By this, they have become living and have emerged from the state of the dead, who are the oppressive disbelievers. Allah—the Exalted—said: {You cause the night to enter the day, and You cause the day to enter the night; and You bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living; and You provide for whom You will without account} (Al Imran 27).
The Night is the disbeliever because it is the locus of darkness and its element. The Day is the believer because it is the locus of light and it emanates from it. When everyone was placed in the World of Mixture (Alam al-Mazaj), the disbeliever began to emerge from the believer, and the believer from the disbeliever, to execute the decree and establish [Divine] power.
