The meaning of One (Wahid) and Unique (Ahad) mentioned in Al-Tanbih by Al-Shirazi
It was narrated in the beginning of Al-Risala al-Misriyya (The Egyptian Treatise) from the Elite (Al-Khassa) in their saying:
"Indeed, Sunday (Ahad) is the Meaning (Al-Ma'na), the One (Al-Wahid) is the Name (Al-Ism), and the Oneness (Al-Wahdaniyya) is the Gate (Al-Bab). The Name is a name for His Meaning and a possession of His; and the Meaning is not subject to a name or an attribute. That is, He is not named by a name greater than 'Ahad,' nor is He named by a name that He [Himself] named. Nor is He described by an attribute that He established and manifested.
The attribute is the attribute of the Name and its description; it is a possession that the Meaning granted to the Name."
This is the saying of our Master (mercy be upon him): "My outward is Imamate and Testament (Wasiyya), and my inward is an Unperceived Ghayb (Occultation/Unseen)."
