Our Master Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Janan al-Junbulani—the worshiper, the ascetic, known as the Persian—said in his book named Idah al-Misbah (Clarification of the Lamp) regarding the meaning of that, where he says:
"If we were to explain immoralities (al-Fawahish)—their outward and their inward—the book and the explanation would be prolonged. Among that is the drinking of wine, for it has been mentioned concerning it that it is the key to all good. And from it: the outward wine, because it is a key to sustenance. This is because a group of Islam [Muslims] speak of its drinking and hold it as permissible (Mustahall); yet it is contrary to the Outward and its Law, and the Inward and its Law, according to the saying of the Exalted:
{Say, 'My Lord has only forbidden immoralities—what is apparent of them and what is concealed—and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know.'} (Al-A'raf: 33).
Thus, Allah has forbidden immoralities, both outwardly and inwardly, and they are the Three Opposites (Al-Addad al-Thalathah).
