Thus, He commanded forgiveness and pardoning, which is the opposite of what Moses commanded regarding retribution (Qisas) and punishment (Mujazat).
Know, O asker, that the discourse regarding the Muhammadan Sharia follows the same course as what we have presented of the sayings regarding the Christic and Mosaic Sharias—their differences, their alterations, and their negations. This is because our Master Muhammad (peace be upon him) altered and changed the laws that came before him. He made fasting contrary to how it had been established Lord Christ, and likewise prayer was ordained contrary to how Lord Christ ordained it, which indicates that nothing is intended by this alteration except the establishment of inward knowledges and the rejection of practicing and believing in these examples and outward forms, because the Inward (Batin) does not alter or change.
I have presented to you, O asker, in this message what indicates to you that all that Allah the Exalted mentioned in His Mighty Book of days, hours, nights, times, months, years, generations, eons, and other temporal circumstances, and what He mentioned of types of food and drink and types of minerals, plants, and animals and their kinds, are in reality nothing but inward persons and inward knowledges.
