This is because we cannot worship Him or know Him except through names and attributes, just as we cannot nourish our bodies except with food and drink; and that is only due to need and necessity.

Likewise, our knowledge of Him through the spiritual manifestations with human and luminous attributes and their names is due to need and necessity. We must affirm upon Him humanity, death, and birth among the opposites. Similarly, it is mandatory for us to maintain the fast symbolized by not speaking of inward knowledges among them. We must also negate the belief in this outward fasting in private and among the believers. Just as it is mandatory that we negate the belief in applying human attributes and their states upon His Essence—the Exalted—in our private gatherings and among the believers, because outward food and drink are two parables indicating inward food and drink.

The children of the bridechamber... The Sabbath.....

Then contemplate Jesus' saying to them: "Can the children of the wedding hall"—which is among the types of joys and adornments symbolized by manifestations among the People of Oneness—"fast while the bridegroom is with them?!"
