{So a wall will be struck between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.} (Al-Hadid: 13). And indeed, this wall, represented by those apparent forms, is so that we may use it as a guide to what is in its interior of mercy. And it is a veil over the deniers (al-Jahidin) to veil them by it from what is in its interior of divine gnoses (al-Ma'arif al-Ilahiyyah), and so that they may receive torment from the direction of believing [only] in its exoteric aspect. And it is a preservation and protection for us against them, just as He Almighty alerted us in Surat Al-Kahf, saying: {And let him be cautious and let no one be aware of you. Indeed, if they come to know of you, they will stone you or return you to their religion. And never would you succeed, then, ever.} (Al-Kahf: 19-20). And from it is His Almighty's saying: {So do not argue about them except with an obvious argument, and do not inquire about them among [the speculators] from anyone.} (Al-Kahf: 22).

And God punished them for their plot with the like of it, out of justice from Him Almighty, just as He informed by His saying: {And they plotted, and God plotted. And God is the best of plotters.} (Aal 'Imran: 54).

And His saying in Surat Ghafir: {Thus does God send astray the disbelievers.} (Ghafir: 74). And His saying: {But those who wronged among them changed [the words] to a statement other than that which had been said to them.} (Al-A'raf: 162).
