This is the establishment of the exoteric law outwardly among the commoners who do not know the esoteric religion, as well as before the strangers who are stifled in the exoteric aspect of the law without its esoteric aspect, just as the Masters (Mawali) commanded us. As for the esoteric, the esoteric is established with its people, just as the exoteric is established with its people.

As for the saying: "The exoteric is the esoteric and the esoteric is the exoteric," this is only valid in the visible image alone. So its exoteric is its esoteric, and its esoteric is its exoteric, in truth and essence, not in genus and outward appearance.. And this statement does not apply to the Name (Ism), nor the Gate (Bab), nor to anyone below Him, because every creature consists of two types: eternal (Qadim) and originated (Muhdath). Its originated aspect is the exoteric which we see, and its esoteric aspect is its spirit, which is only seen through its originated aspect.....

Thus, all exoteric legal observances—such as prayer, almsgiving, pilgrimage, fasting, and striving (Jihad)—have sublime esoteric meanings which are the ultimate goal of the believers.. O God, make us among those who walk upon the path of the righteous—their distant one, their beloved, their intimate friend, and their noble one—who were the firm pegs of the established Khasibi earth.
