And when he had informed them of their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed."} (Al-Baqarah: 31-33).
And God Almighty has alluded to His most beautiful names (Asma'ihi al-Husna) and the recognition of them, and blamed those who deviate (yulhidun)—meaning, they incline towards other than His Almighty's intent by them—in Surat al-A'raf, saying: {And to God belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing.} (Al-A'raf: 180).
And the people of monotheism (Ahl al-Tawhid) have clarified that through their established sayings, among which is what the Master Abu Shu'ayb Muhammad bin Nusayr, prayers of God be upon him, informed us in the book Al-Surah wa al-Mithal [The Form and the Example], with the chain of transmission from Idris, from Zayd bin Talhah, from Yunus, who said: Al-Sadiq said: "Every praiseworthy name is, in itself, [also used as] blameworthy. So from that, the sun and the moon are praiseworthy and blameworthy; and the mountains, the trees, the bees, and the beasts of burden, and all of that is praiseworthy and blameworthy. And likewise, an Adam who is a sinner and an Adam who is pure, and an Abraham who is a sinner and an Abraham who is pure, applying to all that you hear in the Qur'an."
