Disagreement occurred among the people regarding those Divine and Prophetic addresses.
And these sayings and their likes indicate that what God, Glory be to Him, intended by these worldly names in the revealed books is their esoteric meanings (Ma'aniha al-Batinah). And the divine address does not differ from it in any book among the revealed books; the difference is only in names and forms, while the reality is one, and the religion of God is one, just as Baha' al-Din Zuhayr said in his poetry:
O you for whom I endure what I endure
My Master, I am patient until God judges
I named other than you as my beloved as a deception For a group who uttered regarding you what they uttered
I say: 'Zayd', and Zayd I do not know
For it is merely a word whose meaning is you
And disagreement occurred among the people regarding those lordly and prophetic addresses. So the people of misguidance (Ahl al-Dalal) affirmed blame upon the praiseworthy thing upon which the name of the blameworthy fell, and they affirmed praise for the blameworthy person upon whom the name of the praiseworthy fell. And they believed that what is intended by the divine address is these worldly named objects, and they denied what God Almighty intended by them of esoteric gnoses and persons (al-Ma'arif wa al-Ashkhas al-Batinah).
