Indeed, He—Majestic and Mighty is He—is too exalted to place His obligations within that which is transient, changing, and decaying; Exalted is Allah above placing His commands and prohibitions within such things... until his saying:
Likewise, all that Allah the Exalted censured in the Quran consists of persons whom Allah the Exalted censured and commanded disassociation (al-barā’a) from, such as al-Jibt, al-Tāghūt, and others.
And know, O seeker, that I have previously presented the two narrations indicating this meaning from the book Al-Sūra wa al-Mathal (The Form and the Example). The first of them is: "There is in the Book of Allah no [literal] food, nor drink, nor clothing; rather, they are established examples."
The second: "Everything that Allah has permitted or prohibited is the knowledge of persons whose recognition or avoidance Allah has made obligatory."
I have also previously presented the established example in the Quddās al-Rayhān (Liturgy of the Basil) mentioned earlier, just as I presented the established example in the Kitāb al-Marātib wa al-Daraj (Book of Ranks and Degrees) after mentioning the names of the degrees of the ranks.
