If His purpose were the two celestial Sun and Moon, the Exalted would have said: {who created the two of them} (khalaqahuma).
And know that the two Saints (al-Waliyyayn) are a Sun and a Moon; likewise, the Most Noble Gate (al-Bab al-Akram) is named Sun and Moon; likewise, the Greatest Name (al-Ism al-A'zam) is named Sun and Moon; and likewise, the two degrees—one of which is the third of the degrees of the Orphans (al-Aytam) and the second is the fifth of the degrees of the Gates (al-Abwab)—they are one hundred and forty-five Saints who they were named "Suns" and "Moons"; likewise, these two names are applied to every great [person], such as your saying: "So-and-so is the Sun of the land and the Moon of the land."
And know that Allah—the Exalted—did not mention in His Book a name, a letter, or a vowel mark (haraka) except for a meaning; and if it is repeated, it is for a meaning. Such is His saying—the Exalted: {So which of the favors of your Lord will you two deny?} (Ar-Rahman 13), which consists of thirty-one verses in a single Surah. That is because He intends by "favors" (al-ala’) here nothing but the blessings He bestowed upon His servants through His Divine Existences (wujudatihi al-ilahiyya), of which He—Glory be to Him—informed by His saying: {And He showered His blessings upon you, exoteric and esoteric} (Luqman 20).
