And [it indicates] His command—Exalted is He—to them regarding eating and drinking, which are Knowledge and Action therewith, from the provision of Allah, which is the gnosis of Him and the acting upon it. And [it indicates] His prohibition to them from committing abuse as corrupters by their leaning toward the exoteric sciences and their people, and their abandonment of the esoteric sciences.

And [it indicates] the saying of the opponents of Moses (peace be upon him): {We can never endure one food}, which is the esoteric science that they do not accept at all, and their seeking—which they profess and believe in—of the bringing forth of what the earth of human manifestations produces regarding the manifestation of states and the human attributes, the rulings, and the worldly verbal and physical dissimulations (talbisat) represented by the five physical foods mentioned previously in the noble verse, through which the birth of the three fives occurred, which our Sheikh mentioned in his poetry and to which Al-Makzun alluded in his poem, saying:

It appeared with five, and was hidden by five,

and manifested five by which the doubter [is confused].

As it also points to their being deemed ignorant by His saying: {Would you exchange what is lower}—referring to the exoteric sciences—{for what is better}—which is the esoteric sciences—after the sending down of the table of heavenly sciences, which is the divine
