And our master Abu Sa'id (may his spirit be sanctified) mentioned in the book Al-Hawi fi Ma'rifat al-Fatawi [The Comprehensive Book in Knowing the Fatwas] that: "It is impermissible for a believer to attribute an ugly [deed or trait] to a believer. For insulting him is wickedness (Fisq), killing him is disbelief (Kufr), and cursing him is polytheism (Shirk). And whoever embodies any of these descriptions has committed polytheism and exited the boundary of faith." Thus, it is like His Almighty's saying: {And he who associates with God - it is as though he had fallen from the sky and was snatched by the birds or the wind carried him down into a remote place.} (Al-Hajj: 31).

And His Almighty's saying: {Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter.} (An-Nur: 19).

And Al-Sadiq, from him is peace, said: "Whoever narrates a narration against a believer, intending by it to blemish him (Shaynahu) and destroy his chivalry (Muru'atihi) in order to drop him from the eyes of the people, God shall expel him from His allegiance (Wilayatihi) into the allegiance of Satan."
