And His saying, the Exalted: {And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example, but most of the people refused [anything] except disbelief} (Al-Isra 89).
And the Exalted said in Surah Al-Muddaththir: {And it is not but a reminder for humanity} (Al-Muddaththir 31).
Similarly, the word of the Lord to Moses in the Book of (Exodus): “My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you...”
I wonder then—if the exoteric forms of these acts of worship, according to the view of the people of Monotheism (Tawhid), are nothing but images and established examples meant to point toward the esoteric and to serve as a reminder of it throughout your successive generations, as well as for concealment—how can it be permissible for us to hold a belief in the form of this earthly, perishing example as we believe in the heavenly, enduring, and eternal Exemplified (al-mamthul), thereby aligning ourselves with the belief of the people of the exoteric (Ahl al-Zahir)?
