It has been narrated in the exoteric (zahir) books that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said explicitly on the day of the Allegiance of Ghadir Khumm: "Whomsoever I am his master (mawla), Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend those who befriend him, and be the enemy of those who are his enemies; support those who support him, and forsake those who forsake him."
And it was mentioned in the book (Majmu' al-A'yad) by Sayyid Abi Sa'id, may Allah sanctify him: "This saying reached everyone according to what they deserved. So the people of the turbid [souls] heard the saying: "Verily, this Ali is the Imam of the believers." While the people of Monotheism (Tawhid) and the believers heard: "Verily, this is your Evolver (Bari’), so know him; and your Master (Mawla), so do not deny him."
And it was also mentioned therein that Muhammad bin Ali al-Jali—may Allah be pleased with him—asked about what our Sheikh al-Husayn, may Allah exalt his rank, narrated regarding the call of the Master "M" [Muhammad] on the Day of Ghadir? He said: "When the Master Messenger called out on the Day of Ghadir Khumm, declaring explicitly with his saying: 'This Ali is your Lord, so worship him; this Ali is your Creator, so declare his Oneness,' everyone in the kingdom was shaken..." [up to his saying]: "And Allah set a seal upon the hearts of the deniers, so they forgot what they had heard regarding the Monotheism (Tawhid) of the Commander of the Faithful—may mercy
