This confirms that the Inward (al-Bāṭin) is not permitted to be unveiled to the people of disbelief and denial, for it is forbidden to them due to their past and future rejection and disbelief.

I will provide you, O seeker, with another clarification—so pay attention to it and do not neglect it. It is that the Imams and the Worlds of Light used to interpret for the People of the Outward (Ahl al-Ẓāhir) according to their outward beliefs, and for the People of the Inward (Ahl al-Bāṭin) according to the Inward Reality. Therefore, you see among the words of the Almighty and the words of the Worlds of Light and the Imams that which follows the Doctrine of Monotheism (Madhab al-Tawḥīd) and that which follows the doctrine of the People of the Outward—such as the Shia and the Sunni. This is what causes confusion for some of the brothers, because they see from their words what follows the Shia school, and what follows the Sunni school, yet they did not know this meaning. Because of that, disagreement occurs. This is something not hidden from the mature scholars, because everything is made manifest by its opposite, just as we mentioned regarding the contradictory statements.

Among what indicates this meaning is what was mentioned in the book al-Safi from the Book of Monotheism on the authority of al-Sadiq (peace be upon us), that he was asked about Allah (Mighty and Majestic): Do the believers see Him on the Day of Resurrection?
